has stated that it will acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion in what will undoubtedly be the largest acquisition in gaming history. To put the staggering sum into context, it is worth around Rs 5,12,000 crore, or Rs five lakh twelve thousand crores in Indian currency.
Activision Blizzard is the parent company of Activision, a US-based video game developer known for titles such as “Warcraft,” “Diablo,” “Overwatch,” “Call of Duty,” and “Candy Crush.” Activision is extremely popular among the gaming community due to its titles and regular eSports activity.
The corporation today has studios all around the world and employs over 10,000 people. Bobby Kotick will remain CEO of Activision Blizzard following the transaction. The company will carry on as usual, with an emphasis on driving business growth. The Activision Blizzard business will be reported to Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming.
According to Microsoft, the transaction is planned to finalise in fiscal year 2023. Though it has been approved by both Microsoft and Activision Blizzard’s boards of directors, it is subject to standard closing conditions as well as “completion of regulatory review and Activision Blizzard’s shareholder approval.”
